Kathy Wieland

Singing, playing music, and songwriting have enriched Kathy Wieland’s life greatly. She wrote her first song, “Good Cuppa Coffee,” in the 90s. “A Woman Who’s Aged” followed, and shortly after that the duo Katseye was formed with her good friend Kathy Gravlin. Before disbanding in 2014 they produced two CDs, “He Thinks I’m Good Lookin’ ” in 2005 and “Makin’ Lemonade” in 2013. They  performed at many Michigan venues as well as MLAG in 2013 and other autoharp/dulcimer venues over the years. They taught singing and harmony workshops at several festivals, and Kathy taught autoharp and songwriting workshops as well.

Since Katseye disbanded, Kathy has performed solo and taught autoharp and songwriting workshops at festivals in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Arizona and Oregon. Her song “Makin’ Lemonade” was a first place winner at Winfield in 2014, and “Momma Liked to Fish” came in second at Winfield in 2015.

These days Kathy frequently performs with Sara Melton Keller, who backs her up on guitar and uke and also sings wonderful harmonies. They are both looking forward to performing at MLAG 2023!
